Fairbanks

July 27, 2013

Up this morning, and decided to go to the Farmer's Market held here in town - it is on Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday all through the summer...  Great fruits and vegetables as well as Crafters and Great Sandwiches!  Had a Gyro and took home a Buffalo Sausage sandwich for tomorrow....  Sign that greeted us.

All I purchased was a cutoff shed antler to use as a rest for a photo of the bears from Denali.

A wonderful bronze statue of an Athabascan family - dad and child and 2 dogs and the back side is Mom holding a baby.. this area is just SO pretty with the flowers and statues and sculptures.

Bridge crossing the Chena River, kayakers all up and down the river.

View looking the other direction.

LOVED this poster on the side of a building! ........

Here is an anchor as  a display piece.....

There was a gentleman and his sled dog there to inform people about the Iditarod  racing
Sled dogs do nothing but REST when they are not racing - it is their job......

An interesting set of birds on a retaining wall fence in the park..

And a few of the murals in the city - on buildings facing parking lots!

Then we went to a few 'garage sales' outside of a couple of antique shops and found some treasures...
And THEN as before, there are the FLOWERS!!!!!

And a Bee is busy working in THIS one!

Returned to campground and had a nice glass of wine with our Illinois friends as Treva, Chuck's wife is flying home later tonight.  Den is flying to Barrow tomorrow, so bed early~!!!
