Finally have good enough wifi to post some pictures.. Here is our rig with the Custom's building in the background - we had our Pepper Spray confiscated, (there goes 52 bux!) but the Officer was VERY nice about it!
Left our CG at Brandon about 8:30, with BRIGHT SUNNY skies! Thought we were never going to see that again...
As we traveled along Highway 1, across Manitoba, we saw more and more Semi Trucks pulling TWO 53" trailers! Never have seen THAT before! Makes sense as the road goes for Miles and MILES of flat, open 4 lane, divided highways...
Seeing lots of homes and barns with black roofs... To help with snow melt and keep the house a bit warmer in Spring/Fall??
Stopped at a rest area on the province line at Manitoba/ Saskatchewan and had lunch and went inside for visitor info.. They had a basket of Free pins with Manitoba on them! The ones on the Sas. side had a small fee - but I got one anyway..... (well, Den got me one!) Changed time zones at Manitoba/Saskatchewan, but they do not use Day light savings time here. Maybe now it will be dark at somewhere near TIME for it to be??? We have had daylight till 9:45 every night up here. LOL!
Flags at Manitoba/Saskatchewan Rest areas...
Seeing LOTS of LARGE grain bins/Elevators about every 4 or 5 miles - Oats? Wheat? Not sure, but they sure do have a LOT of them up here - perhaps because this is a Major route through the southern part of the Provinces? They look GREAT with these wonderful blue skies behind them!
For our Michigander friends contemplating a journey out this way on the trek to Alaska, here is pretty much what you will see - Route 1 is flat and not too bumpy!
Here is a neat thing we saw and had to go BACK and look at! This is a HUGE Indian Head at a town called....... wait for it.... WAIT for it! INDIAN HEAD! LOL! HUGE head....
I must say that the Cold, Rainy, WINDY days we have had the past few days are FAR OUTWEIGHED by the Warmth and kindness of the Canadians! Laughing and smiling, SUCH a nice sight to see.
Tonight, we are in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan... we will be here for the next 3 nights... Lots of exploring in this town - Tunnel tours - with reference to Al Capone, Chinese Immigrants, (the lived in the tunnels, while saving to purchase a business and make a living..) This area is very historic, leading back to 1882, when the Railroad came to town and turned the town from a lonely Trading Post to a bustling Prairie Town. Looking forward to the next couple of days!
About the only glitch today, was trying to get the International Package to work on my Ipad, so that I could check emails and read posts! Finally figured out how to do it, but good wifi here at our park tonight - the Office is RIGHT behind us.. We got the LAST site when we got here at 4:00 this afternoon!
More when I get time! Stay tuned!
Nice pictures! Hope you stick with pins and not rocks - lol!!!
