Well, after spending a few days in the area where my Grandmother and her family lived about 1895 to 1915 or 20,  we are continuing on our journey toward Alaska! I had hoped to perhaps find out exactly where they had lived or anything more than the basic info that I have from her Baptismal Certificate and a copy of her birth Certificate.  Oh Well, perhaps some day when I have more time I can use Ancestry.com to find out more!

We arrived in Wetaskiwin Alberta on Thursday June 8, and got one of the last available sites, as this weekend there was a soccer tournament, as well as a HUGE 2 day Classic Car show in the town.. NO wifi here at the sites and too far to walk to go to the office carrying my iPad, Macbook and external hard drive and all of the cords to try to upload to the blog with photos…, so it didn't get done.. Friday we went to 2 Museums  here in town, and explored the rest of the town.. and AGAIN, what a warm and Wonderful Country full of people!   Always with a smile and an accompanying HUG!  Met lots of folks at our campground and had some great visits and I got to tell my SILVERWARE story!!!!!!  YEAYYY!

Our campsite at Wetaskiwin:

Yesterday morning, we went up to Edmonton to see and ride the street car on the  3 kilometer trip and back..  There are 3 street cars in the fleet at present, and they were brought in from Japan, Melbourne and Germany.  Oldest 1921, newest 1970.  Our Conductor was from Ireland and a real Character!  Full of beans and jokes!

We then went to the Farmer's Market, held every Saturay - HUGE building with many, many vendors selling fresh vegetables of every kind, and also some jewelry and other craft vendors.  Also saw something I have NEVER seen! Outside URINALS!!!  just a small 'wing wall' on each side… right near the Farmer's market…..  and the Glass walled structure that was the public restrooms also had urinals inside with only wing walls and visible from the sidewalks……  New one on US!  lol! Yikes! LOL!

 Yesterday (the 8th) was ALSO the first day of the car show, so Den went over there to drool!!  Also, there were many large antique pieces of farm and road equipment that he HAD to see - he is a retired heavy equipment Operator, and this place was right up his alley!  They also had several old airplanes, including one like the one he used to own….  That stuff was NOT for me, so I read for a while and enjoyed my afternoon!  Sun sets VERY late up here - took this last night at 10:00 P.M.
And this one at 10:15;

This morning we left Wetaskiwin,  (downtown Wetaskiwin on a Sunday morning!)

 Continuing our travel West from Edmonton area.  Our scenery along the way - from flat Prairieland in the area from Medicine Hat to Wetaskawin, Edmonton, and a ways West of there, we started seeing more and more hills and thick pine forests.  Roads not bad at this point, but with areas along 16 West of Edmonton that were heaved in places… and an occasional Oil Well on someone's property.

Rain and drizzle along the way, but a bit over 50 degrees..  We will overnight here in Valleyview, Alberta.  $30.00 for a very level gravel site, grass between campers, a laundry, and gazebo with large fireplace..

 Here is our site at Valleyview:

We are parked next to 3 couples from Alabama, who are heading up to Alaska too!  They are going to be in Dawson Creek, too.

Hopefully more tomorrow as we get into Dawson Creek!! Later!
