Mossy Rock, Washington!

Sept 11, 2013

Left our park in Port Townsend this morning, had our lunch at this pretty lake at Potlatch on the way.

Got to our park at Mossy Rock in Washington in the early afternoon, set up and Den put the awning out and we sat out on our Gravity Recliners and rested and I read and Den napped...  Leftovers for dinner - so I didn't have to cook!  Bed very early - very tired...... 90 degrees here today...

Sept 12, 2013

Our friends and RV club members got to the park about noon and we all had lunch and then went up to Mt. St. Helens to see the devastation, as we have never been in this area..

Rob's wife, Cathy on the left, Den and I next to her, standing in front of what USED to be Mt. St. Helens...

This area is known as Windy Ridge for a REASON!  LOL!

Mt Adam over those nekkid hills, which used to be packed tight with tall evergreens...

One of the most well known folks from that disaster, was an old guy named Harry Truman.

This is Spirit Lake, which is much larger than before the blast, and STILL has hundreds of trees in it since the force blew them down into the lake and they are STILL there.... Several more pictures are here from different viewing points.

Naked hills, which were dense forests Pre Volcanic blast.

Below picture is of the same car, at present.. rusting down to nothing...

ABSOLUTE devastation continues... and it has been over 33 years!

The beauty of the snow capped mountain...

We left Mt. St Helens  before sunset and managed to make it down to a country road where we could see Mt. Rainier in all of it's GLORY as the glow of the sun touched it!  BEAUTIFUL!

Back to camp and I made chicken and dumplings for all of us for dinner, and had a great fire!  Caught up on what has been happening with all of us since we saw them last fall!

The next morning we decided to just hang out and catch up some more....
For Dinner, Rob had decided to do up some fresh salmon on the grill so I cooked taters, made a salad and Cathy did some wonderful green beans .  Just about time for us to have dinner, Our friends, George and Julie ALSO from our RV club showed up to surprise us!!!

Photo ops!

And Rob hard at work, slaving over his grill!
And table is set, and dinner ready!

And we get to CHOW DOWN!!!!!!  We all talked till WAY after dark, and the campfire felt SO good!  George and Julie sure did surprise us!  good to see them!

Up and said our goodbyes to Rob and Cathy the next morning and we went on down the road..

One last picture of Mossy Lake, in the beautiful state of Washington!

Next Stop, Portland Fairview RV park in Oregon! I get to add ANOTHER state sticker to our Map!
