Tour Around Duncan, Vancouver and the Totems

August 30, 2013

Here is the sign in front of our RV park - VERY secluded sites, heavily wooded and very quiet - $50.00 per night, FHU, no cable and limited wifi.......
but tethered with my iPad 3g it seems to be doing fine....

So we went into Duncan today, to see the GREAT Totems!  It is very well known for these totems, which I find FASCINATING for some reason!! They truly tell a story of the peoples who lived here so long ago...    There are more than 20 in the town and I don't think we even found them all.....
Some had identifying info, and some not...

In the center of this SWEET town, there are antique shops, thrift stores, gift stores, gifts made by local artists, as well as the usual eateries and clothing shops.
This neat "mural" was all painted on out side of a flat face building!  I thought it was pretty neat!!!!!

The Totem below had no explanation, but I rather THINK it is quite a bit older than the others - it is very worn and weathered...

And this neat logging car and Locomotive are as you come into town... Duncan is a VERY Friendly town and we have really enjoyed meeting the local folks and shopping at the antique and thrift stores - We even got to visit a friend who I had only known from 'on line chatting' previous to our visit here!  Her name is Donna TOO!  We call each other "Other Donna"! LOL!  She and her brother, Steve came to dinner tonight and we had SUCH a great visit!!! She has lived here all of her life!!  So glad we finally got to meet in person!

Heading to Butchart Gardens tomorrow and will probably have a TON of pictures to post  when I can next!!!

                          STAY TUNED!!
