Last day in Victoria, moved to Washington!

Sept 8, 2013

Said goodbye to Dear Donna, a chat board friend of mine on out last night at Victoria, Vancouver on Sept 7, 2013  She and her brother Steve, came over to share our last dinner here - I made a double batch of Chicken and dumplings and this pan shows ALL that is LEFT in the pan!  Lots of laughs and fun!  She calls me "Other Donna" and I call her the SAME! LOL! She is the sweet friend who gave us the tickets for the Butchart Gardens, and I SO appreciate that treat! It was just BEAUTIFUL and we are sad to be leaving this warm, wonderful area!  Everyone has been just SO friendly and kind...  Bye, Bye, Other Donna! We will meet again I am sure! Hope soon!

Sept 8, 2013
We have not had wifi strong enough to post for quite a while, so the dates will be wrong on the posts!
We Headed out from Victoria to the Ferry Terminal and got our rig and truck in line for the loading schedule, and then got a chance to do a quick tour of the beautiful buildings and interesting things to see.

This is an amphibian bus! Loads up sightseers and then drives right down into the water and becomes a BOAT!  I have never seen one exactly like this...

And more totems!  This was a small portion of the ones we saw here in Victoria, as there were too many things in the backgrounds of some to make them easy to photograph.

Then back to the dock area to get ready for the Customs inspection (U.S. - to make sure we have all of our passports etc.)
Here is a view of the wonderful marina area, and it was a BEAUTIFUL day for a trip out on the water!

We are first in line of the campers!!

Here comes our Ferry.. it was HUGE!

This map shows our path as we left Victoria and headed straight over to Port Angeles - the line down the center is OUR ferry.

More of the beautiful scenery along each side of the ferry route leaving the city.

The trip was beautiful and uneventful till we got a bit past half of the trip and fog rolled in like a blanket and it rained, so you could not see a thing - and then we landed and unloaded in SUNLIGHT! LOL!
Disembarking from the ferry.

Port Angeles is where we landed and then had to get in line for the Agricultural inspection... There were only 3 campers on our ferry, and we all got searched... I had known about the law of not having fruit or vegetables, but they took our rice! About 5 pounds of it - but the customs officer  DID search every place in our camper - all cabinets, even bedroom, front closet, under sofa (we have no fold out bed under ours, just storage), under our bench in dinette area, etc..Even searched the fridge and freezer..  He was very nice! Did not just rip apart!  So, it took about an hour .

Then we were released and we headed on down to our Campground at Fort Worden, just outside of Port Townsend - VERY nice State Park!  Right next to town, lots of room between sites, shady, quiet, and close to the beach.

Saw several deer as we came into the park, and had dinner, then went down to the beach to take pix of the sunset through the FOG on the beach - it was a BEAUTIFUL evening there... WHERE ARE THE PICTURES YOU ASK???  well, it seems that when I downloaded pix from the camera of the trip across on the ferry, I FORGOT TO PUT THE DARN MEMORY CARD BACK INTO THE CAMERA!!!!!  Boy! Was I BUMMED when I discovered THAT.....  Trust me, it was a BEAUTIFUL etherial sight to see.... that fog coming in like a blanket over the glow of the sun which turned the sky a peach color.........  LESSON LEARNED... till the NEXT time I do it!! LOL!

Good wifi here, in McMinville, Oregon, so will add more.......
