This morning, we went into the Very pretty town of Port Townsend - very historic small city with GREAT architecture and very friendly folks! The town is small enough to be very easily walkable.. Most of the buildings are from the late 1800's and BEAUTIFUL! the shops have these TALL ceilings, brick common walls, just wonderful... I shopped the town while Den warmed the 'Dutiful Husband Benches' and met a LOT of friendly folks!
A piece of "something" down on the marina walkway.....
Some clever, very talented person has carved seals or something in this old log that washed up on the beach....
Another leftover from a previous era.....
I met a new friend... she did not have to much to say, but really was quite good at "Posing"....
A piece of driftwood... Den decided that it was too BIG to get into the truck bed.... :-(
More of the architecture downtown...
Two sailboats out enjoying the BEAUTIFUL day! We had lunch at the "Siren" and it was an outdoor deck on the waterfront. GREAT Gutsy Beers and great food!
Back out at our park at Fort Townsend: this was one of the barracks or bunkers that is right next to the beach on a bluff.... All abandoned now....
Mount Baker in the distance.....
The day before we got here, a clever Dad and his 2 kids had a BALL making things out of the driftwood! this one looked like a skeleton of some ancient beast! LOL!
and THIS one is like a fort!
and I found a HEART ROCK! It 'might' have come home with me..........
another Fort!
Loved the sight of the cliff on the Strait of Juan de Fuca, at our campground
and the mountain again...
And the Lighthouse at the point where the Strait and Port Townsend Bay meet was SO neat! It still has a light on...
and this MIGHT have come home too.... I do not know........
Loved the sunset on this large driftwood piece.... Den said THIS was too big for the truck, too... DARN!!!! Would have made a GREAT table!!!!
And now for the Closing act of the evening..........
While we were shopping in town, I found a FABULOUS shop with Wood carvings, many made with Burls! This one accidentally found it's way home with me... it is carved from Buckeye burl and is mounted on an Ash Burl.... I just fell in LOVE with it...!! Mama whale is teaching her calf how to swim and dive.....
